Question, if one formats a 4 GB card in the book port, can one decide
between FAT or FAT 32, or if one wants FAT 32, does one have to format
in windows? I could always stick in my 4 GB card, but it's currently
full of things I need to keep on it for a while.

What Rob and Pamela have both said is that it is a good idea to format.
It's not supposed to be necessary, but it's a good idea. and since it
takes a maximum of maybe twenty seconds to do it with a 4GB card, it
really doesn't hurt to just take the time to do the format.
