Well, look at it this way. If you purchase a book port, then the new players come out, you could get a player from your braille lending library, then, if the book port you have needs repaired, you aren't stuck waiting till you get the book port back. There hasn't been any price announced for the new Book Port 2.  We have
already been told that there will not be any trade-ins on the current
model toward upgrading to a new one.

Look on the bright side, however, since your unit is newer, you'll be
in a better position to wait and see what changes might be made to it,
even after it comes out.  Just look how much this current unit changed,
even after it was first released and the price never changed during any
of those changes.
