There is a list for the Stream. And, you know something? They won't
want you to talk about the Bookport there, either. My, my, what a
concept! APH creates a list for the Bookport, and they don't appreciate
people discussing other products there! Will wonders never cease?

Umm, but why do you need to go to the Book Port list to get information
about the Stream player? That was not appropriate for this list, so I
was just letting you all know a reply I could use without saying that.
That message did not relate to Book Port in no way! So, I chose to let
you know that we do have another player that will soon handle NLS. I
could've knocked the person who sent the message off the list (or you),
but 'tis the season, so I chose a different approach.

Hello Pam:
You mentioned to APH BookPort list. Well you have chased everyone off of
that list. You would not tolerate a discussion about the Stream on that
list. So this is one of the few places we have to go to get some
information. JIm

Reader Stream

FYI:

Although the Book Port has been discontinued, APH has other products
that will be supported with Bookshare and the NLS support, so the Victor
isn't the only product out there. The Braille + and the Book Wizard
Reader will also read Book Share books. and We will begin Beta testing
for the NLS books on the Braille + within the next week and if all goes
well within the testing phase, it should be released within the next
month or so--just had to get the APH 2 cents' worth in there, since last
time I checked this was the Book Port List, supported by APH. Thank you
very much!

Hi, Bertha. I use a Book Port and absolutely love it. So it will
probably surprise you when I suggest that you invest in buying a Victor
Stream instead. I have two reasons for making this suggestion. The first
is that the Book Port is nearing the end of its product cycle, meaning
that replacement parts and memory cards will become harder to obtain in
the years to come. Second, the Stream can handle NLS books while Book
Port can't. I love my Book Port and would be sad without it. I bought
mine used though, and logic tells me that if a person can buy a product
in new condition, it should be one that will be current and the most
versatile. If you'd like to talk to the people from Humanware and other
Stream owners, TekTalk is hosting a live demonstration of the Stream
with its new software on Monday night at 5 P.M. Pacific, 8 P.M. Eastern.
Just go to http://www.accessibleworld.org and click on the link for the
TekTalk conference room. This demonstration is free to everyone, and
there will be a question and answer period after the presentation. Hope
this helps.

Hey ya'll,
I am part of the bookshare list, and I thought this would be relevant to
all who are using the BP and are starting to think twice about the
Victor Stream, so uh, do check this out!-- Chela Robles
