Well, to be strict about it, the optimal figure is one. The more directory
entries you have, the (relatively) slower the BP will perform. Remember that
the processor in the BP isn't anywhere as powerful as the one in even the
oldest computers, so it's always going to be slow as you add more and more
folders, even if each folder contains only one file.
