Two reasons should be enough:
Simpler to use interface.
Cheaper.
I think the main feature the bookport has that the courier doesn't is the
ability to enter text using brail notation. There may be some others -
check both web sites. If you want the extra goodies the port has and are
willing to put up with a bit more complexity and a bit higher price, by all
means buy the port.

Access the built in user guide anywhere with a press of a button.
Tactile keypad, obvious at a glance what buttons do.
Those are the 4 I could come up with. But for me personally those are
pretty compelling reasons.
