On Saturday, 03/07/2010, Egoli had its first new committee meeting at the head 
office of Blind SA, in the Ernest and Monica Kruger boardroom.

 

I think that those serving on the new committee are dynamic, enthusiastic, keen 
and willing to expand Egoli activities. They will assist members where they can 
and get interest generated for potential new members to join us.

 

In the very near future, we are planning to have a whine tasting function. Our 
annual Egoli versus Orion quiz and a pleasant year end get together will be 
organize.

 

Already the committee is considering changing our quiz format, so that we could 
include other branches.

 

One of our problems in Egoli is that we cover a vast area: Kwa-Zulu Natal, Free 
state, Gauteng excluding Pretoria and North-west. This leaves our members with 
the everlasting problem of transport to get together.

The committee has decided to involve younger people, as leaders, split the area 
into smaller cells and then to organize functions within the cells.

This will help to alleviate the transport issue...

 

Funding is becoming more and more difficult and in this regard we have launched 
a raffle for a big basket filled with eats and soft drinks.

If you are hungry, contact Susan Bam our secretary, to find out how and where 
to obtain tickets. At R5 per ticket, what can you lose?

If you do not win, at least you will support Egoli blind and most of all, you 
would not have to hide from your bathroom scale!

If you should be so lucky as to win, you get lots to eat, a basket which will 
be handy to use in the future and at least for a while forget or ignore the 
bathroom scale.

 

We are also making use of this opportunity to invite all visually impaired 
people to join Egoli Blind. In actual fact, bring your husbands, boyfriends, 
wives, girlfriends, parents and children to experience our friendly family.

 

Remember, where we can, we are willing to assist you with blindness related 
problems.

Most of all, we need your input and ideas to develop Egoli Blind.
