Well, it was delivered to my offices this morning by Ram couriers, and while have only tested it a little bit, it seems perfect to now allow me to make use of various audio output gadgets like the vOICe on my phone, as well as my KSonar with inner ear earphones and without using my hearing aid since it boosts the audio signal by 400%, and since it's primarily designed for use with MP3 players etc. it doesn't mess up the sounds at all.
It's called a boostaroo: http://www.boostaroo.com/and the only real issue with getting hold of it is the manufacturers refuse to ship to south africa, and it took me around 2 months to get the local providers to actually get it to me.
Anyway, really only tested it a little bit today with things like my phone and MP3 player, but it really seems to do a decent job, and is small enough (around 8cm by 1.5cm by 1.5cm) to be used relatively inconspicuously, and the only thing they tell you to try look for is to use earphones with something like 160 ohms impedance - presumably to stop them from being damaged by it's use.
It also has two output jacks - presumably so that if you were doing something like DJaying, you could use earphones along with actually playing the sounds through the other output.
