For the DVR in RMC6, the commercials will be recorded.  So, for example, with 
the default settings, a recording at Hulu.com will split out all of the 
commercials because "split on silence" is On.  All the commercials are still 
recorded, but the splitting rules just makes them into new files.  
Consequentially, the main video is also split into segments, which can be 
recombined.  You can turn off the "split on silence" option to get a single 
long recording that includes commercials.
