note that the "problem" rested in my typing a %s (rather than %S) in how RAV ought to name saved files. %s apparently is an invalid option; and perhaps RAV somehow generates something to indicate an error that Window-Eyes somehow couldn't digest. I have no way of knowing if the fault lies on the RAV end or that of the screen reader. Note that the problem manifested itself at the point a recording commences not before. Weird to say the least. But now at least, I understand what to watch for when resetting that field should I ever again be brave enough to do that <grin>!! RAV, incidentally, is an absolutely wonderful program and works flawlessly, 99.99% of the time, with Window-Eyes.
