Colindale resource centre showcases gagdets for the blind

By Neeta Dutta

A NEW Resource Centre has opened in Colindale for members of the Barnet
Association for the Blind.

The centre, based at the Flightways, on Grahame Park Estate, offers people the
chance to try out specialised equipment such as talking watches and clocks,
kitchen equipment and other daily living aids before they commit to buying them.

Christina Hind, Barnet Association for the Blind co-ordinator, said: "There is
a wealth of equipment available to assist the visually impaired to lead an
independent life but it is generally only available locally from catalogues.

"It is much more helpful if someone can actually try out the equipment before
ordering"

The Resource Centre is open on Wednesday mornings on an appointment basis.

To make an appointment or to find out about becoming a volunteer for the Home
Visiting Service call 08458 380 480.
