BPA International Honored by NDEAM

By Stefania Viscusi, Assistant Editor

In a bid to increase public awareness of the contributions and skills of
American workers with disabilities, the month of October has been designated by
Congress as National Disability Employment Awareness Month. (NDEAM)

To shed light on the achievements as well as the struggles that still exist in
employment, several programs are carried out through the month. Planning of
activities and material is led by Congress.

"National Disability Employment Awareness Month is an opportunity to recognize
the contributions and accomplishments of Americans with disabilities and to
underscore our Nation's commitment to advancing employment opportunities for
all our citizens," commented United States President George W. Bush in a recent
statement to the press.

"It is important that we continue to expand on these opportunities for
Americans with disabilities by eliminating the barriers and false perceptions
that hinder them from joining the workforce. By enhancing the workplace
environment for people with disabilities, employers can help provide access to
jobs that allow these individuals to demonstrate their potential and realize
their dreams."

As part of the awareness during the month of October, NDEAM, an event presented
in coordination with the N.Y. State Department of Education - Office of
Vocational & Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) &
the Long Island Working Partnership (LIWP) and this year, co-sponsored by the
Long Island Association, will present statewide, regional and local awards to
recognize individuals with disabilities for their contributions to the New York
State economy.

The awards are presented to businesses in recognition of their outstanding
contributions in advancing employment opportunities for persons with
disabilities.

Among the 2007 NDEAM winners is 3rd party remote call monitoring provider, BPA
International Inc. who will receive two awards at the event for their active
employment of visually impaired staff to analyze calls.

"We have found that this provides us with an additional pool of recruitment
resources and have had tremendous success as these individuals often display
superior listening and analytical skills," BPA International told TMCnet.
