Applications for disabled IT aid open

Applications for the Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment
and Central Fund for Personal Computers open today. The deadline is December 7.

The Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment supports
non-government, and non-profit making organisations in providing services or
schooling for the visually impaired. It also helps tertiary institutions
acquire advanced Chinese screen-readers and Braille displays that allow the
blind to use the Internet.

Organisational applicants can get a maximum grant of $9,800 in subsidies for
each Chinese screen-reader, and $36,000 for each Braille display. For
individual applicants the maximum subsidy for the screen-reader is $9,800 and
75% of the cost or $27,000 for the Braille display.
