Brian,
I've not upgraded yet and I hate to give advice if I don't actually go try
it myself first, but, have you looked at the setting for tutor messages in
JAWS? My suspicion is that you might have it set to, On, or, custom. Try
setting it to off. If you need more specifics, just yell.

Subject: [blindipod] two J-Tunes questions
Hi all,
A couple quick questions about J-Tunes 3.2.
Is anyone else having problems trying to buy tracks from the iTunes store?
Ever since I upgraded to 3.2, I haven't been able to buy anything. Reading
the manual, I got the idea that you don't have to get rid of all the columns
the way you did in 3.1. It just says to make sure the window is maximized,
which I do. Once I find a song I want to buy and hit J-Tunes key B, JAWS
says buying track, please wait, like it's supposed to. Then it throws me
back to the iTunes Store part of the source list, as if I had tabbed to get
back over there. Anyone know what might be going on? At first I thought I
had to get rid of some of the columns because with the default layout of the
store, there was enough information that JAWS wouldn't read the price all
the time. So I tried getting rid of all the columns except for artist and
title, but got put back in the source list again when I tried buying the
song.
Is there a sequence you have to go through so that JAWS can find the button?
I got the impression that you don't have to do that with 3.2, but maybe I'm
wrong.
Secondly, is there a way to turn off some of the JAWS messages? I have
recently discovered the wonders of the speech and sounds manager, so set up
a lot of controls to be indicated with different sounds instead of JAWS
speaking them I.E. a click sound plays whenever I land on a button. When I'm
in iTunes though, JAWS will still tell me in the message voice that it is a
button. It gets kind of confusing and annoying when I have my sound scheme
going but JAWS still telling me things that I already know via the sounds.
It is most annoying with checkboxes, since I have a sound to indicate a
checkbox, and one for whether it is checked or not. I don't need JAWS
telling me the same thing with speech. This also happens with access keys,
something I normally turn off but that still speak in J-Tunes.
Thanks,
Brian

Subject: [blindipod] Purchasing albums and reaction to Anna's presentation
Hi
Anna I have just listened to your Tech Talk presentation primarily on the
subject of downloading music and transferring it to a portable media player
and it really was wonderful. You did such a great job with it.
I know how long these things take to put together thoroughly and so I
appreciate the efforts you went to in order to get it recorded very clearly
and with excellent explanations, well done. I will definitely link to that
over the weekend on the site.
I just wanted to comment on the purchasing of the album using iTunes and
J-Tunes. I think I have an idea what was happening there where the wrong
album was being purchased and I will work with you off list to make sure we
address that. Of course we need to improve upon it but I thought the
solution you employed to obtain the album was a great piece of inspiration
on your part. But as I say let's see what we can do to resolve that in an
update.
