actually when I did all that a few days ago it just said "dot r o c k b o x dot
c f g" I could not hit select it would ust repeat that over and over again.

Hello all I'm trying to creat cfg files on my ipod vidio running rockbox so I
can save my settings in case I crash. How ever the manual does not say how to
do it with in the menues. it only says where it is. Has anyone attempted such a
feet?

Anyway basically you do the following.
1 Go in to the main menu.
2 Scroll to manage settings.
3 Scroll to write configuration file.
4 Once you press select on write configuration file it will display the
directory where the cfg file will be saved to and the cfg file name.
5 Just hit play and it will write the cfg file.
6 Now browse to the file config01.cfg under .rockbox.
