Hi
I have today been working with the latest release of iTunes and, in
terms of correcting the compatibility difficulty between jaws 7.10 and
8, it is all we hoped it would be. A few changes to the scripts are
required, but nothing too difficult. So when our Webmaster returns from
holiday in two weeks, at the time of the Sight Village large exhibition
in the UK, we will post to the web a new update for anyone wishing to
use jaws version 8 with iTunes. We also need to do some compatibility
tests with Windows Vista.
As to what has changed, nothing that startling. It is compatible with
the new iPhone which is currently in the news. One disappointing factor
relates to the iTunes store. There is still no hot key in order to
purchase a track, although I have to say the key we do have in the
scripts worked right away on my computers without adaptation. The other
problem however still remains in that the music store view we ask you to
customise, I.E. unchecking certain check boxes, is not retained when you
close iTunes and re-open it. That has been around since version 7 was
released.
Apart from that all the regular features of the scripts work fine, and
if this continues as I think it will, we will dispense with maintaining
two sets of scripts for iTunes 6 and 7 as there would be no value in
doing that.
