Hi James,
iTunes offers some tracks without restrictions; they cost $1.29 per
track, I believe. You can put them on the Victor Stream if you use
RealPlayer to transfer them to your SD card and tell RealPlayer to
convert tracks to MP3. I've done it, and it works. I buy some music
from iTunes and some from the RealPlayer music store, which is very
accessible. Those tracks won't play on a Stream unless you convert
them with Sound Taxi, and RealPlayer isn't great for listening to
music on the PC because you can't change the volume independently
from your screen reader's volume. But it's great software for
transferring music to devices.
Another site I really like is eMusic. Its selection is quirky, but
all tracks are in unprotected MP3, and the prices are really reasonable.
iTunes is my favorite library software because the layout is simpler
than with anything else I've tried. With the scripts, I find it the
easiest way to create and manage playlists. But it would certainly be
wonderful if Apple made it more accessible.
