Hi Andrew,
You cannot simply add credit to your iTunes balance. You will need a
credit/debit card to purchase on a track by track basis. The best way to do
this is to set up your Apple Store account via the internet and leave your
credit card on file. Otherwise you will need sighted assistance to do this
within iTunes. Hope this helps.
