Thanks, Daniel, for the advice.

I loaded the Aug. 17 Rockbox build, along with the most updated voice
file, and was able to initialize the database and hear lots of other
things that I had not been able to hear before.  For now, all my isues
are resolved, and I'm better able to help newbies.

Now onto the more complex stuff!
