Hi Eudora listers:
I have been experimenting with my address book, trying to solve the
following problem. Maybe the solution is quite easy, but I am probably
thinking too hard. Here is the issue:
I am part of a high school alumni list which has almost 1700 members. I
can remember e-mailing you to ask about how large the address book can be
and you reported having 3,000 entries in your address book. My address
book for the alums is referenced bynickname and the entries are written as
follows: Greg_Daniel_1971, followed by each member's e-mail address in the
proper field. Then, I have an entry for each class I.E., shs1971 with
their nicknames listed in the proper field. In that way, I can send an
e-mail message to an individual or to an entire class group--which is how
we send out newsletters, reunion announcements, etc. Here's the issue: If
my wife had gone to my high school and I wanted to send an e-mail to both
of us as a married couple, rather than sending an e-mail message to each of
us individually, could I have an entry that looked something like
this? Paula Roman 1975 & Greg Daniel 1971, followed in its proper field by
my e-mail address? Some alums want to get only one copy of the newsletter
per couple, instead of the two I send them now--one to each of them. I
still want to keep my present format because each year we vote for alums to
go into our Hall of Distinction and I want to send each member that
information. In a nutshell, I want to use the wife's first name,
maiden name, graduation year, then "and" or "&" husband's first name, last
name and graduation year--all tied to an e-mail address.
Currently, I don't use the full name, first name and last name fields.
I hope that I haven't thoroughly confused you, but I doubt that. Thanks
for any help that you can offer and I will keep experimenting.
