If your service provider is a flavor of Yahoo, AT&T, SBCGlobal ... They made a security change related to SSL and sockets. No, I don't know what I'm talking about, but here is the article Ray Campbell from the Lighthouse sent about fixing it.

1. Open Eudora to your list of messages in the inbox. If it doesn't come up when you open Eudora, hold down the control key and press 1 to get to
the inbox.

2. Hold down the alt key and press "t" to get to the tools menu.

3. Press "o" to get to the options menu.

4. You will be in a list of available categories. Up arrow or press the letter "c" to get to the checking mail item.

5. Tab until you get to the edit field for your incoming mail server. Type: "pop.att.yahoo.com" (without quotes). Press tab until you get to a combo box that says "Secure sockets when receiving." Arrow down until the combo box says "Required, Alternate Port." Press tab until you get back to the checking
mail item.

6. Arrow down to the sending mail item.

7. Press tab until you get to an edit field where you can type in your SMTP server. Type: "smtp.att.yahoo.com" (without quotes). Press tab until you get to a combo box that says "Secure sockets when sending." Arrow down until the combo box says "required, alternate port." Tab until you get to
the OK button and press enter.

This changes your Eudora settings. The "Required, alternate port" settings in the Secure Sockets when receiving and secure sockets when sending combo boxes automatically tell Eudora to retrieve mail using ports 995 and 465, respectively.

Andy,

I can go to web sites just fine. It's not my internet connection, and it's not my browser. <smile>

We just changed web hosting providers, and I can receive email just fine, but I can not send email from our business account.

I'm getting the following error:

"0Dominant, Could not connect to the mail server cuz Eudora got tired of waiting."

Thank you.

one way to determine if Eudora, or any mail client is causing the problem is to launch your web browser. If you are able to go to sites, etc. then you have connectivity, and it is time to start looking at your Email client.

hHi andy well for the most part you're right, however they have the bok to refer to like this one. I have found that for instance, my isp cableone.net? he asked what e mail program I was running? guewss what? he said ok let me switched to eudora grin! so ya just never know for sure.At 10:16 PM 2/6/2009, you wrote: >if this happens occasionally, it usually means that your ISP is having some kind of outage. if it happens all of the time, then you need to check your network settings. If you have to call your ISP for help, good luck because most do not provide any support for Eudora.
