To me, the Sony's that run about $10 seem to be the best for duribility, inexpensiveness, and quality. Best Buy carries them, and they seem to last for several months under heavy abuse (I mean use).

I use the cheapest ones. I am not after audio quality because they all
break. If I want quality I listen quietly at home, or at lunch with proper
headphones, usually street style as they don't get tangled in my long hair.

But for earbuds, the cheaper the better. When you listen to speech, whether
it is humans or synthesizers, the high-quality ones just give too much bass.
