Check your volume settings.

If you have something set too loud, it will cause this jproblem with audio files.

Well guys, that's a strange one. I think that is a different way of
saying I don't have a clue. I have not heard of this before, but it
obviously exists.

What versions of Windows Media Player are you using? You see, if you
keep asking questions, you can still pretend you know something. Oh
Sure. They are on to me now.

I know you probably won't find this comforting, but at least I'm not alone in this. <sigh> Lynnette

Regarding these issues with windows media player (WMP) and crackling, I
too
have this problem. I can listen to files just fine with any other
audio
player such as Winamp but WMP seems to skip through parts of the audio
as
well as make staticky sounds.

I'm hoping someone who has windows media player working properly can post some settings suggestions so I can try to fix this annoying problem.

Thanks,
J Garcia

Lynnette, "Sound advice," you say. Not bad.

what happens when you listen to the same music in Sound Forge and then again in Windows Media player? Is there a difference?

Hello All,
Can anyone explain why I hear crackling noises when I'm listening to music? It's quite annoying. I don't hear it as much while playing music in Sound Forge and it's barely noticeable as JAWS is yacking. It's really awful, however, when listening through the Windows Media Player. Perhaps the sound card is the problem. Soundmax drivers were installed at the factory and I have not changed anything.

I would be most appreciative for any sound advice. I know. <groan> but I just couldn't help that one.

Thanks much in advance.
Lynnette
