Hope,

I'm glad I'm not imagining this crazy speed up and slow down stuff. I assume
you have perfect pitch or something close to it; me too, and it drives me crazy
when something like that happens. Funny though, I can turn off my perfect pitch
and listen to something and have no idea what key it's in, or what chords are
being played. Some people are stuck with it though, like it or not, and can't
control it. I entertain myself when attending some long boring thing (company
luncheons, for example, or even high school band concerts where the choir had
only one song to sing) and pay attention to the chord sequences, just to see if
they'd change the key in the middle of something, or if some instrument would
goof up really bad. It was one way of staying awake.

Mary
