I don't think there is another way, but it is very smooth.  Listen to
some of my podcasts.  I occasionally edit out half a sentence I didn't
like and put in a new one from a different file.  I can't hear any pops
or any other bad artifacts.

I have been using Sound Forge since version 5, and now version 8, and I
can't think of any other way of doing it either.
