Well I don't know anything about MIDI accordions so it would be interesting to learn about the different types.

Hi I must admit that my accordian is the standard squeezebox type, no midi or anything, when you say midi accordian, are you r3efering to the ones that don't have propper bellows, that have synthetic sounds built in, or the standard accordians who also contain a midi note output unit? if it's the latter type I suspect they work in much the same way as the normal run of the mill accordian with bellows, but, they have a midi system on them attached to each key, which corresponds to the key value that midi sends out to the software you are sequencing to. I have to say, I'd love to try one of the new virtual accordians, that have a synthasised sound, and no propper free reeds and bellows, the midi accordian type I mentioned above, can be played as a propper accordian if you wish, which I think is rather nifty! I know someone who has one of these, but never played it.
