You can go into your clock settings and pick a different time server too. 
The one MS uses isn't always answering.  If you look in the event viewer you 
will sometimes see a lot of messages about the time server not responding.

There is another program which works well with xp and is quite speech
friendly called "d4 time" from think man software. If you want I can send.
