Thanks, I kind of figured I needed an external program, just need to know
what would work and how to use it. I have used reel-to-reel records,
cassettes and have done transcription from digital but that is my limited
experience. I know nothing about editing, mixing, multi tracks, conversions

You need an external program to convert files from wma to wave files; there
are lots of conversion programs out there. I think Windows has one built in,
but I don't know how good it is.
I can't really be any more specific than that. I've mentioned the one I've
been using but the interface is quirky.
