Maybe it's a very bad microphone I use, but the sound level is very low.
It's a NGS MS102 (price 5 euro (about $3 i think)
Or maybe it's because it doesn't have a amplifier.
I also tried it with a SONY ECM-C10 microphone, but get same problem.
To prevent clipping I have to set the volume of the "wave" to a max of 10%.
and the mic to 100% with "mic boost"(in the advanced tab") to "on"

My soundcard is a REALTEC AC97.
So far, I can't find a PRE-AMP here in Holland.
so, let me know if there are other programs to replace the windows volume
control, or software pre-amps.

Very new on list - so hello to everyone.
When I record program reviews, I do the following:
Run my volume control and edit the recording properties (start, run, and
type "sndVol32 /r".
I check the stereo out, or what you hear, depending upon my sound card.
I record some samples of my speech synth or other audio, to make sure the
level is satisfactory.
I then go to the play control (either through the menus, or by clicking
start, run, and typing "sndVol32".)
I ensure microphone is checked, and again slide things around to make sure I
can be heard, along with the other audio.
it seems to be different on a lot of sound cards - on my sound blaster, I
have to put the microphone to about 20%, but with the crystal sound-fusion
on this laptop, it has to be at around 65%.
When all my settings are as I want them, I use the Quick Mix program:
TO save my settings to a file.
If at any time I wish to record again, I simply run the saved file and
things are as they were.
I hope that helps - and again, a big hello to all on-list.

Subject: [bct] Program reviews

Hi everyone,

What are the settings to make a good program review?
So that the volumes of the mic and speech are at the same level.

Please let me know your settings.
