I use my Olympus recorders with rechargeable nickel metal hydride batteries and they last for about 8 or 9 hours. I have both a DS2 and a WS320M and rechargeables save you a lot of money, but get the nickel metal hydride and you'll get good results. Be sure your charger will charge that type of battery though; older chargers probably won't do that.
