I tell you right now; I sure hope this is true. I did download the version five of the Audible Manager; and, let me tell y'all, it just is impossible to use with jaws. this looks like it could be good news, if true. Don -----Original Message----- From: BlindAudibleListeners@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:BlindAudibleListeners@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Yardbird Sent: Monday, February 27, 2006 3:51 PM To: BlindAudibleListeners@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: More accessible audible Manager V. coming soon I just got off the phone with tech support at Audible, and in the course of our conversation, the representative mentioned that the Audible developers have been revising Audible Manager 5 to interact better with screen readers, and will soon release the update for download and installation. the screen reader user who has been acting as their consultant and beta tester on this effort has also been preparing an instruction sheet for this tweaked version of the interface, which I think he means to make available to the rest of us. I asked the person if Audible was planning to post an announcement when the update was available, and so far as he knows, the only plans so far are to add mention of it to the Audible Frequently Asked Questions page. I suggested they might do well to make sure that someone, maybe this consultant himself, posts an announcement right here to this list. I emphasized that although the Jaws-unfriendliness of Audible Version 5 was discussed on the list, no one seems to be thinking of the FAQ page as a place to check every day, without expectations, to see if there might be some mention of this issue. So, we may soon be told about some good accessibility news, enabling more of us to upgrade to the latest version of Audible Manager without fear and loathing.
