Lois,

If you are using a card reader, can you just copy mp3 files directly to the
card. (i'm not talking about transferring books) When you plug those readers
in to a usb port, does the computer see them as another drive or do you have
to install any transfer software?

and btw after getting the proper parts, the thermostat seems to have
stabilized.

I  don't know where you live.  But if you are in the US., Walmart has a
Sandisk Imagemate card reader that will read 12 different flash memory cards
including the type 1 CF card we use for the bookport.  It is easy to use and
costs around $27.
