If you are using a card reader, can you just copy mp3 files directly to the
card. (i'm not talking about transferring books) When you plug those readers
in to a usb port, does the computer see them as another drive or do you have
to install any transfer software?

I  don't know where you live.  But if you are in the US., Walmart has a
Imagemate card reader that will read 12 different flash memory cards
the type 1 CF card we use for the bookport.  It is easy to use and costs
