After thinking about the wording of the cutoff of web braille, it's obvious
there was an emotional/panic response to some perceived problem. If there
really were security concerns it could have been worded in a much better way
so it wouldn't have stirred up the blind patrons. If backtranslation was the
issue and they are just realizing it is easily done then they are
incompitent. If patrons are abusing the system then they need to be dealt
with individually.
As far as the audio books go, they can encrypt till the cows come home.
Unless they distribute players without earphone jacks then anything can be
copied. The whole point is to make it not worth anyone's bother. So for now,
let's sit back and enjoy the bureaucratic doublespeak and paranoia!
