Ah, but Beth, if heat is used, the M&M has to be sitting on something
thus, because it is soft, it will contain the flat imprint of where it
was sitting.  Good guess though.

My guess is that heat is used to seamlessly bond the outer coating--and
I wonder what that is made of?  I heard that M and Ms were invented for
soldiers, so their hands would not get messy while fighting.  Too bad
chocolate couldn't be passed around to everyone and fighting would stop.
