Maria, a towel and then a tall mug of scotch. Actually, my friend
didn't even have any scotch, so the towel had to do.

Ok Neal,
Now that I have picked myself up off the floor, I think I definitely
sing the praises of litter boxes.

I do have a question, though. Did you have to call for a towel or
something?

Yikes, he did it again. Stop changing the subject Neal.

But, the message below did remind me of another funny story. I was
visiting a friend a number of years ago and went into her bath room to,
well, what else. How was I to know that she had trained her cat to
stand up on the rim of the toilet seat and pee in the toilet. Well,
Kitty saw this large object approaching him from above. He tried to
jump out of the way but only slipped and fell in. It was only then that
he got his footing. Straight up my back he ran trailing water and cat
pee as he went. Let's hear it for litter boxes?

And then there are those moments which can't be recorded, like the time
I felt my dog's head go up to grab the end of the toilet paper roll and
was able to avert disaster. The only things that would have been picked
up on the recorder would have been the phrases, "No!" and "That was too
close for my comfort!" (smile)
I'm in the process of having my Braillenote upgraded to an mpower,
and hope to catch some interesting things to record with that.

Hi Lisa, you're wrong about that one. As someone who has both tried to
train their own guide dog and one who has done a podcast, I would have
to say that training your own dog has got to qualify for one of those
"classics".

I really wish I had a decent recorder for some of those times.

Joseli,
We had an owner trainer panel at last year's GDUI convention. My
guess is that it's probably up on the website www.gdui.org. I'd enjoy
doing a podcast about this, but I need to learn a few things and get my
act together first. (smile) At this point anyway, I think training my
own guide sounds tons easier than producing a podcast.

hey, I'd love to see someone that's owner-trained there dog do a pod
cast on the way they did it and what not.
like, the method used, where you got the harness, access issues etc.

I'd say I've lost my sanity, but you can't loose what you never had to
begin with!!
