I guess I should have read further, I know it was based on a book because I
don't watch that many movies and it was all familiar.

Hi all,

The movie is based on a book called In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash; 
there is a chapter in there describing some of what the movie portrays. The 
book has some really outrageous stuff in it. NLS recorded it and it's 
RC48446; author Jean Shepherd. Narrated by Michael Kramer. It's on two 
tapes. I think the author did the narration in the film.
