Some ISP's refuse to let you send mail thru other MTA's except for their
own.  Cox does that, infact.  So I, as a Cox customer could POP down my
gmail as specified in a previous message on here but I would have to
send my outgoing mail thru smtp.cox.net or whatever it is; I haven't
looked up the specific info.  I just mention this in case your ISP
blocks SMTP mail going to somewhere other than the ISP's mail.  Now I
just recalled though that Google uses a different port so you just might
be able to get around the local ISP restrictions.  AFAIK, Cox's mail
restrictions apply to port 25.
