Hi Mac,

This list is fairly technical in nature. There are no harmful intentions or class distinctions intended at all in my use of some technical terms. They are just intended for reading by those who already understand such terminology or those whom happen to be willing to do some homework on their own. Alas, especially now with a job search under way, I just don't have a sufficient amount of time at my disposal to act as an instructor from the ground up. My apologies here. Just doing the best I can.

Thanks, Darrell, that's about what I thought your reply would be. I am used
to some levels of jargon and there are areas of expertise where you couldn't
touch me with a ten foot pole. However, you say it best, in your slogan, at
the bottom of every post you send out, namely: "
Information should be accessible to us without need of translation by
another person." I might have missed an earlier part of the thread, that
the sender had put out there, which would make my comments that much more
embarrassing, but, I don't think I did, which is why I wrote what I wrote,
plus which is why I am continuing the thread,in public. In other words, by
all means, explain your direction, but don't try to baffle or brag, through
the esoteric use of jargon, OK?

I have really said more than I intended to, on this subject, which
embarrasses me the most; my apologies to anyone who feels that I am out on a
limb here-- I don't think I am, but I could certainly be! Now, because of
your high class lingo, I have to attempt to do some "Search Engine Surfing"
, in order to get caught up. You know, I should have spent $100 or $135 to
get a Reading for the Dyslexic and Blind membership, before now, in order to
get the textbooks that I might need; any suggestions on textbooks that I
might peruse,to get me up to speed on some of these subjects, Darrell?

Regards to the list and to Darrell,

Mac Norins

Hi Mac,

The shop talk is just a matter of fact sometimes on these mailing lists. I
apologize. I'll write another note shortly in an attempt to explain some of
this stuff, but it is also helpful to start learning some of the lingo, too.
Lingo ( or jargon) allows people to quickly communicate ideas with others
who also know the meanings of the terms. It just can't always be avoided
and some of this is up to us to expand our knowledge bases as individuals.

Darrell,

That was a pretty high falutin' bunch of words for a public list; you just
showing off your vocabulary, or do you want to explain what you said?
Some
of us don't know squat about chat rooms or some of the tools that you just
mentioned and that makes this an accessibility issue, if I ever heard one!
Spill the beans and make it simple to understand, OK? BTW, I am saying
all
this because I have been told that Total Recorder was"OK" for recording
Skype calls, Skylook was about the best, but requires a knowledge of
Outlook
(not Outllook Express) and that, as you are intimating, Power Grommo is a
bear, because of the Visual Verification problem;the one that you are
fighting, all the time. Now, what does George Buys have in his Talking
Communities chatrooms that you suddenly have; you said that you have it!
Tell me what's going on here and tell everyone else, who isn't up to speed
with all of your "knowledge power"!
What the hell is half duplex?
Regards,

Mac Norins

Hi Mika,

You definitely want to stay away from Power Gramo. I currently have a 5
user Talking Communities chat room which includes very good recording
capabilities, so if both users are PC based, well, you're all set. It
would
be wonderful for interviews, so long as both parties are fine with half
duplex communications. Better anyhow; no wworries about people talking
over
each other.

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can recommend a good way to record Skype calls?
My
sound card does not have the "what you hear" option which I imagine might
do
it.

I have been looking on the web, and none of the solutions seem that
great.
Many of them require that you do your recording in a specific program,
etc.

I did check out Hot Recorder, but I could not figure out how to save
files.
You also must use the jaws cursor quite a bit in hot recorder.

I am also playing with something called
Virtual Audio Cable
Which is some kind of shareware software mixer.

But I'm wondering how people here record Skype?

Thanks,
Mika
