What the NFB does not say and will not tell us is the extent of consulting income it receives from Microsoft and Apple. The NFB has provided fee-based consulting services for Microsoft in the past and this may present a conflict of interest.
Whether advocates, magazine writers, bloggers or podcasters, if we are sharing an opinion publicly it is important to fully disclose relationships that we have with the various entities mentioned in the content. Others can then judge for themselves if this relationship might cause someone to have a certain opinion. In the NFB instance, cash from Microsoft could be a motivator.

Hello Peter, Darcy and Holly are not commenting on NFB matters. Rather, they're commenting on blind community matters where the largest American organization of the blind may be misrepresenting certain aspects of accessibility on the Mac.I don't own a Mac. I'm a Windows person. Even so, I am not going to sit in judgment of a platform about which I know little, especially when I know atleast ten blind people who are using most aspects of the Mac quitesuccessfully now. I have it from reliable sources whom I've learned to trustover the years that NFB is just dead wrong in many ways with this BrailleMonitor article. We should all take care to have our facts straight beforegoing public, especially when criticism is being delivered. I have just posted the latest episode of the BLindWorld Blog and Podcast. It is a reproduction of an episode of The Screenless Switchers Podcast's latest episode, featureing a thorough critique of a horrifying article published by the NFB concerning Mac OS X. Find my show at http://feeds2.feedburner.com/BWBP or download the file directly at http://www.shanejackson.net/Screenless_Switchers.mp3 and be warned that the podcast is over 2 hours in length. I would, however, urge you to listn to the whole thing, as it is most relevant. Thank you. Shane Jackson Vestavia Hills, Alabama, USA.
