Hi all! I just got a reply from an email I sent to Libsyn about their word verification problem. It sounds like they were forthcoming with an answer!

Gary-

We are aware of the issue with our system. I apologize for the lack of support for a better system at this time and assure you we are working on a solution. Comment spam is a mounting problem, even with things like captcha in place. A solution to both issues will be release soon.

Thank you for your patience.

Hello. My name is Gary Wood. I am totally blind. I understand that your site uses something called word verification, or captcha! This is not a good system for blind people, because our screenreaders can't read the word that we have to type that's on the screen, and we have to get sighted help to do this. To make this accessible, I believe that there needs to be maybe a sound file that one could download, in order to hear the word or characters that one has to type. I just thought I'd bring this to your attention. Thanks for your consideration to this matter!
