Originating in 1974, this day commemorates Palestinian prisoners considering that 1 in 5 Palestinians living in the Occupied Territories have been imprisoned for political reasons since 1967. Of those imprisoned, 80% have been tortured.

*NABATIYAH MASSACRE*

*April 18, 1996*

Israeli Occupation Forces instigated an air attack on a home in Lebanon killing 11 and injuring 10. Eight victims were from one family (a mother and her seven kids) including a 4 day old baby. Other buildings were bombed.

*QANA MASSACRE*

*April 18, 1996*

Israeli Occupation Forces attack a United Nations compound where innocent Lebanese civilians had taken refuge to avoid fighting that had erupted. There were 102 civilians which were killed (mostly women and children) and over a hundred injured including 4 United Nations peace keeping soldiers. (www.robert-fisk.com/articles18.htm)
