You definitely were not purged, but Freelists does tend to randomly
unsubscribe people now and then and you don't know it until you notice
that you are no longer getting messages from the group. If it is a low
traffic list you may never find out.

I've had nothing but contempt for Trump for years, since the first and only time
I watched "The Apprentice." What a pig he showed himself to be then! And to
see what I've watched him do and say in the last year--I cannot for the life of
me appreciate why anyone would believe a word that comes out of his mouth! The
other night some simple lady in Michigan was so confused as to how anyone could
believe he wouldn't do well by everyone in the nation and of course he'd present
a good healthcare act! She obviously hasn't been reading the paper, much less
following the details of what the Republicans were writing into their proposed
act. As soon as it was released to the Democrats, Derek Kilmer and Governor
Inslee saw it shared with everyone they could imagine would be affected by it,
including the labor union our caregiver company is affiliated with. Kilmer, our
local member of the national House of Representatives, is a personal friend of
our local SEIU president, so we've been advised in full as to what the
healthcare act would entail and how it would affect both us and our clients.
It was projected that, as written, it would deprive about fourteen million
current recipients of current AHC coverage of their healthcare coverage at the
time the program was to be instituted, with that rising to twenty-four million
within ten years. Costs for policies would have risen, with costs for seniors
not yet on Medicare being a fifth to a fourth higher than those under sixty
years of age.
But the cuts to Medicaid were intended to cut costs beyond the AHC coverage,
affecting goods and services that were established well before when Obama-Care
went into effect. Homecare and help with home-health programs, aid in obtaining
medical supplies, and so on were there long before Mr. Obama became President,
after all. So, deprived of the chance to cut out Social Security and Medicare
as Ryan has wanted to do for years, they instead attacked Medicaid and hoped no
one would realize what was happening until after the fact. This is where the
ninety million people statistic comes from.
The Republicans that want to repeal all this stuff have no idea of the facts of
life for those ninety million individuals who depend on Medicaid goods and
services. My client and I were just talking about what it would be like if we
could do with members of the House and Senate what we used to do in Port
Townsend: first, send them out with peas in their shoes and with knee braces,
poorly maintained wheelchairs, blindfolds, and ear muffs to learn what it's like
to try to get through life and our communities with a major disability, then
have them follow a home-health nurse, caregiver, physical therapist, and the
like for two weeks so that they are forced to see WHY the money is needed and
where it's going to. What do most of them know about poverty and struggling to
get health insurance? Remember, Carl, the city planner who learned the hard way
why criticism was coming in regarding those old curb cuts that aimed wheelchairs
down into the center of intersections? It may well do a world of good in
getting through their stubborn insistence that everyone who received government
money is merely leaching off the government.
