Hello, Richard,

yes, please do send the welcome message again. As for the contacts list, my name is Van.

About the Hadley chess course, I will look into it as I am sure it will help me better my chess gameplay. The chess board, I already have as it belongs to my step-son who received it after finishing his time at the California School for the Blind. Although, from all the chess variants that I have been reading about, a second board would surely be used. Alice chess sure sounds fun to play.

Alvin and myself have already started a game, and this will be the first time I will be using notation. I'm learning as I go, and I hope I don't break any rules of the list unintentionally.

even if I get frustrated with a current game, I always think that there is the next one. I've made some out an out silly mistakes and learned not to do them the next time around. Here's to making mistakes and learning from them. Cheers!

Talk soon,
Van

Hi VG,

You should have received a welcome message when you first joined the
blind-chess list. If you did not, please let me know and I will resend it.

Mainly, you need to give me your name so I can include you on our player
contact list. Your name and email will not be published on the list.

We play chess by email, but normally do not send moves through the list. So
we need your name on the contact list.

If you are very new to chess, you may want to take the free chess course at
the Hadley School for the Blind. you will get a free chess set with the
course to use and keep.

In any event, we will try to help you along the way. The best way to learn
is to play, just don't get too frustrated if you don't win many games.

Richard

Subject: [blind-chess] New here and interested in playing

Hi, I'm new here and have been reading the various emails and getting a
feel for the group. I'm fairly new to chess and have been playing for
only a few months. I'm not all that good yet but I enjoy the game. I
wish I could play more frequently but there is a lack of willing
partners. I don't know how chess is played here and how pairing even
works. I'd like to learn though.

Talk soon,
VG
