I think I may have found the closest thing to perfect weather in the US.

Arizona! I haven't always lived here, I'm originally from the Midwest, so I've seen the tornado and blizzard thing a lot. There is none of that here, neither is there earth quakes like in CA or hurricanes like in FL. It is just, very hot. If one can take the hotness, then it is darn near perfect I think. And, all you northerners have my sympathy. This is my first Xmas without snow and I am so loving it! I wore shorts to a Xmas party the other day. Not something I'd done before living out here that's for sure! So as my friends and family back north are buried under their snow drifts, I smile cuz, I'm not!

Well, earthquakes occur seldom, especially really
strong earthquakes. The mild ones are rather exciting.
Getthe adrenaline flowing. So I guess we here in
California have an advantage. The only difficulty is
that so far they aren't able to forecast them or warn
people about impending ones, unlike hurricanes,
tornadoes, etc. As far as cold and snow go, if one is
transplanted from the Midwest or East, it takes a long
time to get used to the lack of seasons, especially at
Christmastime. Shopping or Christmas presents in
comparatively warm, sunny weather is not fun --one
needs dark overcast, cold, possibly snowy weather. Not
until I had children could I forget about the weather
and enjoy the Christmas shopping and season.

However, all of you, too, might experience
earthquakes. There is a large fault -- is it the New
Madrid? in the southern part of the Midwest that had
an earthquake in the 19th century (I think it was -- I
don't want to interrupt this writing to check) that
was felt all way to the East Coast. So you, too much
enjoy the experience. We don't want to hog the fun
(grin).

In West Central IL we don't have snow but it is cold with gusty winds. As for earthquakes I have never been in one... I think you are right, Shelley, it's more or less a trade-off. Guess it depends on what you dislike the most or least. <smile>

Freezing in Pennsylvania, we had a ten car pile up outside town today with a school bus, luckily not full of kids, but the driver got banged up pretty bad, and the pile up took several hours to clean up, something about solid sheets of ice.

Got to love rain snow combinations with a cold front
behind for extra
entertainment.

Stay warm for those who are cold and well, not fair
for those who are in
warm places, though we don't get Hurricanes and
Earthquakes so guess it is a
trade off. We don't get Tornados either, just snow.

Smile.

The vision must be followed by the venture. It is
not enough to
stare up the steps - we must step up the stairs.
