Sorry to disagree, Christina, but I see page numbers with my Braille
display.

As for the stars, perhaps the submitter put them in to protect chapter
headings if no page numbers appear before the headings.

Hello, Monica.
I don't know what the stripper will do to the stars but I can answer your
other question.

The page numbers that you're hearing but aren't able to locate are the page
breaks in the RTF file. Those numbers won't be part of the book once it's
put on the Bookshare site.
They're usually a few numbers higher than the actual page numbers printed in
the book because there are things at the beginning of the book like the
synopsis and reviews that take up a few pages.
When the book is put on the website, the page breaks will remain but you
won't hear or see those mysterious numbers at all.
I hope this helps.
Christina

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] validating question

Hello all. I am validating my first book in a long time. In the book, I am
using Jaws 8 to read and I'm reading the book with MS Word. I also have a
braille display. My question is, I can hear Jaws say the words 'page 10'
for example but I don't see the page number on the braille display. Also,
ablove the words Chapter 1 there is a set of stars. Do I leave the stars
there so the stipper doesn't remove the chapter number? Thanks.
