I apprreciate your message. I know Gwen calls me "infamous E." and that is the reason somebody may need to show her how to send my messages to junk. Sometimes somebody on a list really rubs somebody else the wrong way. If sending messages from that person to junk helps keep somebody on a list where they can learn then filtering is a good idea. Personally I do not filter but I do use the delete key a whole lot and often do not read beyond the first sentence in messages which do not interest me. Gwen could not do this of course since my question was about something she is doing. I will be very very careful what I ask Gwen in the future since I offend her at times when I am just curious or helping out. For instance, I removed a duplicate of Gwen's from the check in list and would have written her privately to alert her but was concerned after having been called Infamous E. that she might not want to get email from me. Gwen I only removed the duplicate so two proof readers did not end up working on the same book. Honest, I am on your side.

You know; I really try to keep out of this sort of discussion, but I feel the need to comment here.

In the past two weeks, there have been two flare ups on the list where individuals have felt picked on. In this second instance, I read E.'s question is simple interest. I assumed that she thought Gwen might be new to email and not realize that returns were unnecessary accept between paragraphs. We all learn from each other after all.

I have ben on this list for at least two years and have always been gratified by the care individuals have expressed for one another and for for the willingness of members to help one another. E. as well as many others have always been willing to answer questions, find solutions to problems, and offer support.

When I joined this list I knew very very little about using Word to proofread--I knew nothing about choosing fonts, formatting paragraphs and many other things. I did read the NBP book to learn many things, but I have also learned much from others here.

When I joined my first yahoo group, I read one guideline which said, "ASSUME GOOD WILL", a term which speaks for it self. I trust we can continue to "assume good will" on this list.

And I hope I have not offended anyone.

It is curiosity. Using the enter key that way breaks speech up a lot so I really notice she is doing it. I just wondered why. No picking intended whatsoever.

Elizabeth, this feels like you are picking on Gwen. So, politely, what's it to you if someone uses short lines? I don't think anyone here has to justify how their email client is set up. BTW, sometimes I use very long lines. It's my preference. smile.

Any reason for doing this?
