Hi, Natalie. Oh, yes! There are lots of books with the synopsis of simply
"romance." Ugh! I love romances, but that's just not enough for me. That
book could be about practically anything relating to romance, and just
because I typically like romance, there are some I don't read. Seeing a book
is a romance but nothing else...well, I don't know. That's definitely odd
that you'd put in a short and long synopsis, only to find them deleted once
the books appeared on the site. I'd be slightly miffed, to say the least, if
that were me and can't imagine why anyone would do that, either. People are
always complaining because the synopses aren't informative enough, so why
someone would take an informative synopsis and make it less so is beyond me.
Take care.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: unsatisfactory synopses
Hi to all,
I finally got back on the list. I think I was lot for a bit.
Anyway, I saw these posts about unsatisfactory synopsis's and I just had to
post a comment. Since, as I said, I haven't been receveing all the other
mails from a while back to up until a few days ago, I dont' know if this
subject was brought up and discussed, nd closed. I know it was brought up
once before, but I wanted to put my own two cents in it.
A while back I submitted several books in the romance category. Now, when I
submit a scanned book, I always, always put in the long synopsis box the
exact stuff that comes from the back of the book. And from there I put a
edited version of the long synopsis in the short synopsis box.
So, a while back I got an e-mail saying that one of my submitted books was
validated and accepted into the collection. I was like, yay!
Then, a little while after that, I was searching through the romance
category, looking for books to read, when I came across that book I
submitted. And whoever validated my book totally deleted my short and long
synopsis and just put "romance." I cannot tell you how confused and
mystified I was by this. I don't know about the rest of you, but I enjoy
reading the short and long synopsis's that people put on their submitted
books. I don't go by author or title, but what the book is about. I like to
know before I read the book a bit about what the storyline is. So, going by
my own preference, I'm confused as to why someone would delete what the book
was about and just put the word romance.
And that's something I've noticed a lot about the romance category. Don't
know about other categories, but in the romance category, if you scroll
through the books, a lot of books just say, "romance" or "romance by best
selling author." I'm just trying to better understand why this is done. Is
it a lack of time by the volunteeer to find a synopsis or scan the back of
the book? Or is it a preference, perhaps?
If anyone can answer my questions to help me better understand, I would
appreciate it. :)
Natalie
