I have not been doing as much proofreading lately and have not had to go to the second page of the checkout list to find a book. However, after all this discussion, I attempted to load the second page of the checkout list. I use Window Eyes for my speech. Window Eyes read the percentages as the page loaded up to 25 percent; then the speech quit and when I read the screen sometimes would say "Downloaded page" and would sometimes not speak. Speech resumed when the page finished loading, which took about three minutes in total.

Hi, Evan, I'm using Jaws as my screen reader and it did read up to 38% and then stopped. I thought it was taking an unconscionably long time to just sit there. You should hear a percentage figure every five to ten percent or so. It varies. In my case it just appears to sit there and of course the screen reader says nothing. Well, let me respeak. I can load the second page, but it takes a VERY long time. If your browser doesn't crash, I suggest being more patient. If that doesn't work, you can use the combo boxes above the list of books ready for check out to change the sort order of the books. If you sort alphabetically, instead of by date added which is the default, you'll at least be able to see all of the books before the letter H before you get tripped up before the holds for. Good luck, and I hope you conquer slow page loading. I'm only having trouble getting to the next link or page 2 of the book queue. This means I can look at the first hundred records, but I can't go beyond the first page. I've tried this using Internet Explorer and Firefox. Apparently when I press the enter key to load the next page nothing happens. Is there a problem you know of with regard to the page not loading? Mind you, I'm not experiencing this if I'm just looking at all the new books in the collection. I wished to get beyond the numerous records of that single book which is being held for new volunteers to exercise their proofreading skills. I've written Bookshare support about this but would like to know if you've been experiencing this problem or not as the case may be. Regards, Kim Friedman.
