Hi,
To my knowledge there is no easy way to remove the headers.
My system is to select the header leaving the page number, put it into find and replace and replace it with nothing and hope that you caught a lot. Then go to the next page and continue. Usually it takes me about an hour to do a 300 page book.
This also shows up any missing or duplicate pages. I figure about 4 hours to complete a book. Forty-five minutes to scan and another two or three to remove junk and headers and spell check.
This method is not easy, but it assures a scan with at least a 99.8 percent accuracy.

In my opinion, removing headers is the responsibility of the scanner, particularly when Bookshare's stripper does such an uncertain job. I think this is especially necessary because, as you said, these headers are often not consistent. I have done this when validating but it is not a requirement and is time consuming.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] title on each page

Hi Gang,

So often when scanning a book the title or author is at the top of each page and often the author's name is not complete like it might be in some kind of fancy print. Is there any easy way I can delete all those jumbled names or is that done by the validator? I do rank spelling check and try to catch all the divided words, but that has always bugged me about the garbage at the top of the pages.
Thanks.
