Hi Lissi,
It can be a challenge to get books flat enough on the scanner so that you don't
miss text from the margins, but it can be done. first, before you start
scanning the book, open it at different places and pull it open as far as you
can to stretch the finding. You can also do this and then lay the book
face-down on a hard surface and mash down the binding. Do this at several
places in the book. When you're actually scanning the book, you need to hold
down the binding against the glass. The best thing to do is take the cover off
the scanner and press your hand or arm down on the back of the book. It's a
good idea to either read the book as you scan, or else check every once in a
while to make sure the pages are still scanning well. There's nothing more
frustrating than getting going on a scanning project and when you're done
finding that 2/3 of the book needs to be rescanned because the binding wasn't
held down.

It will be great to have your contributions to the collection! Feel free to ask
any questions you have about scanning.
Kellie
